Boston Man Arrested After Vero Beach Truck Crash
VERO BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A man from Boston was arrested in Vero Beach, Florida, after crashing a pickup truck and allegedly being under the influence of methamphetamine.
The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office (IRCSO) reported that deputies responded to a vehicle crash near 1916 15th Street Southwest in Vero Beach on Wednesday at 8:08 a.m. Upon arrival, they found an unoccupied GMC pickup truck in a ditch.
Deputies observed a man and woman walking along the road. According to the probable cause affidavit, a witness pointed them out in his driveway, where the suspected driver, identified as 38-year-old Gideon Rivera, was attempting to leave.

Deputies took Rivera into custody after ordering him to the ground, and found the truck keys in his pocket. Rivera allegedly denied being the driver, claiming the woman he was with was driving. Deputies noted that Rivera showed signs of impairment. He reportedly admitted to using “ICE,” a street name for methamphetamine.
Rivera was taken to the Cleveland Clinic for medical clearance before being transported to the Indian River County Jail. He faces charges of leaving the scene of a crash and driving under the influence.
