BYD Surpasses Tesla in European Electric Vehicle Sales
Chinese automaker BYD has sold more electric vehicles in Europe than Tesla for the first time, marking a significant milestone in the Chinese company’s efforts to expand into overseas markets. According to data from research group Jato Dynamics, BYD registered 7,231 fully electric cars in Europe last month, compared to Tesla’s 7,165 registrations.

“This is a watershed moment for Europe’s car market, particularly when you consider that Tesla has led the European battery electric vehicle market for years, while BYD only officially began operations beyond Norway and the Netherlands in late 2022,” said Felipe Munoz, global analyst at Jato Dynamics.
The achievement represents a breakthrough for BYD’s efforts to expand into overseas markets, which the company has been pushing to develop over the past few years. BYD’s success in Europe comes as the company continues to gain traction globally in the electric vehicle market.
