Cadillac Escalade IQ in Florida
Recent sightings of the Cadillac Escalade IQ in Florida highlight the state’s growing importance in the electric vehicle (EV) market. Florida has become the second-leading state for EV sales in the U.S., trailing only California.
Florida’s position in the EV market is notable. While California boasts approximately five times more EV registrations, and Texas comes in closely behind Florida, the Sunshine State’s growth is undeniable. This is particularly noteworthy given that Florida is the third most populous state, with Texas second.
Data from 2023 shows that California led the nation with over 1,250,000 EV registrations. Despite the data being a year out of date, the trend is clear: EV adoption is rising in Florida.
A recent report in The Orlando Sentinel indicates that Central Florida alone saw a significant surge. “In Central Florida, the number of electric vehicle registrations rose more than 15% from November 2023 to November 2024, according to S&P Global Mobility, an automotive data and analytics company,” The Orlando Sentinel writes. “More than 17,000 electric vehicles, often called EVs, were newly registered in Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia counties during that period, the company said.” During that period, EV registrations rose more than 15% in the area.
Nationwide EV sales grew 9.4% in 2024, yet Central Florida surpassed this with a 15.2% growth rate, the state’s positive EV figures are an excellent benchmark.
While comprehensive state-specific EV data is not always available, the existing figures point to a promising future for EVs in Florida.
