Numerous cars and small vans are being recalled in France and other European countries amid concerns about fire and injury risks to drivers. Vehicles from Peugeot, Citroën, Fiat, and Opel are affected, along with certain Lexus and Toyota models.

The recalls are due to a variety of issues:

    • Faulty ground connections, or les connexions au sol, which increase the risk of fire and malfunctions.
    • Problems with car batteries.
    • Incorrectly welded cameras. Front and rear cameras (used for parking assistance, etc.) have been found improperly attached, allowing water to enter and potentially cause short circuits. This can lead to camera failure.
    • Also increasing the risk of accidents and injury via the cameras displaying a faulty or blank image possibly creating a fire hazard.

Alerts were initially issued by the EU Safety Gate website, which oversees the recall of non-food products throughout the bloc. France’s national recall website, RappelConso, has also issued its own notices for drivers in France.

Specific production dates for the affected vehicles are not provided.

    Affected Vehicles

The following car models are included in the recall:

    • Opel: Grandland X
    • Citroën: Jumpy (both passenger and commercial versions)
    • Fiat: Scudo (both passenger and commercial versions)
    • Peugeot: Expert (both passenger and commercial versions)

More specific information on the exact models can be found on the RappelConso website by searching for the above models.

A substantial number of Lexus and Toyota vehicles are also being recalled. Listed below are the affected Lexus and Toyota vehicles:

    Lexus Models:

    • AXZA10/AXZH10/GSZ10
    • GVF50/GVF55
    • FJA310/VJA310
    • AAZA25/AAZH20/AAZH25/AAZH26/TAZA25
    • AALH15/AALH16/TALA15/TALH17
    • XEBM15
    • KMA10/MZAA10/MZAH10/MZAH15

    Toyota Models:

    • XEAM10/YEAM15
    • MXGH12/MXGH15/ZVG12/ZVG13
    • JPD20
    • MXWH61 (all models from 2023)

Complete details on the Lexus and Toyota recalls are available on the corresponding RappelConso announcements.

Owners of affected vehicles are instructed to contact the dealership where the car was purchased to arrange for the necessary steps to be taken.
