China’s EV Makers Compete with Advanced Automation
With the automotive technology landscape becoming increasingly competitive in China, electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers are rapidly incorporating innovative automation features. These upgrades aim to improve fuel efficiency and strengthen the appeal of EVs.
Last month, BYD, the world’s largest EV seller, announced its commitment to equip all of its vehicles with assisted driving capabilities. These features include enhanced cruise control and the ability to autonomously change lanes.

Shortly after BYD’s announcement, Tesla unveiled plans to make its autonomous driving software available to its newer models in China. This rollout includes autonomous lane changes and enhanced intersection recognition, and signifies the first expansion of this feature outside of North America.
