Court Quashes Proceedings Against Audi India Officials
Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday overturned criminal proceedings against the head of Audi India, a division of Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt Ltd, and the company’s customer service head. The case stemmed from a petition filed by a car buyer.
The buyer’s luxury car experienced brake failure within 18 months of purchase and five months after servicing. The case implicated the two executives, along with the chief operating officer of Audi Kolkata and the managing director of the authorized distributorship.
The charges fell under sections 34, 120B, 418, and 420 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertain to criminal acts done by several persons with a common intention, criminal conspiracy, cheating, and fraud.

Justice Rai Chattopadhyay ruled that these individuals, whose offices are located in Mumbai, were not directly connected to the transaction. “The accused, who have their offices in Mumbai, have never been related directly with the transaction,”Justice Rai Chattopadhyay held. The court’s decision brought the legal action to a halt.
