Deadly Crash Causes Fire at Historic Caudill’s Electric Building in Kernersville
KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — After several days of investigation, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol has confirmed that a fatal car crash caused the fire that destroyed the Caudill’s Electric building in downtown Kernersville on Saturday. The crash resulted in the downing of two telephone poles, which sparked the blaze that engulfed the historic building.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash, 25-year-old Isabelle Lawson, was ejected from her car and pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Kernersville Police Department, the vehicle Lawson was driving had been reported stolen. The KPD is currently leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
