Dearborn Heights Shooting Leaves Pickup Truck Riddled with Bullets
A shooting incident occurred on Tuesday in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, leaving a pickup truck peppered with bullets. The incident took place at the intersection of Hipp Street and Powers Avenue, near the southern edge of the city.
According to Dearborn Heights police, two vehicles were involved in the shooting: a black SUV and a gray pickup truck. Although both vehicles had left the scene by the time officers arrived, the pickup truck was later found with multiple bullet holes. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Deacon Lorenzo Porter Lott of Freedom Fellowship Church, located near the scene, called for calm in the community. “Have some faith and have some patience,” he said. “People should learn to calm down, take a moment, count to three, whatever you got to do, and just calm down because when the bullets come out the gun they can’t go back.” Porter Lott, a Marine veteran, emphasized the preventable nature of such conflicts. “Think about what you’re doing,” he urged. “Are you willing to go to jail for life for a simple situation.”
The Dearborn Heights police investigation identified a suspect after speaking with witnesses and receiving reports of shots fired. The case will be forwarded to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s office once the investigation is complete.
The community remains shaken by the incident, but the swift police response and the community’s call for calm have been notable. The incident serves as a reminder of the need for continued community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement.
