Denza to Officially Launch N9 SUV
BYD’s premium brand, Denza, is set to officially launch its new SUV model, the N9, next Friday, March 21st. The announcement comes after pre-sales for the vehicle commenced last month.
Denza will host a launch event in Shenzhen, the location of BYD’s global headquarters. The brand announced the event on Weibo, stating that the N9 aims to “reshape the value of luxury flagship SUVs to a new benchmark.”

The N9, which Denza previewed starting in October 2024, saw its first production vehicles roll off the assembly line on February 8. Pre-sales began on February 21, with a price range of RMB 450,000 ($62,000) to RMB 550,000. Customers who pre-ordered the vehicle for RMB 2,000 will receive priority purchase of its limited first edition.
The launch date marks exactly one month from the start of pre-sales, and Denza is expected to reveal the N9’s pre-sales order performance at the event.
The N9 will be Denza’s flagship SUV, joining the N7, which saw a refreshed 2025 model launched on February 18. The N9 is a six-seater hybrid with dimensions of 5,258 mm in length, 2,030 mm in width, and 1,830 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,125 mm, according to regulatory filings.
In terms of size and pricing, the N9 is positioned to compete with vehicles like Li Auto’s Li L9, which starts at RMB 409,800, and Aito’s M9, which starts at RMB 469,800.
The Denza N9 is equipped with BYD’s e3 technology allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in less than four seconds. The e3 technology is seen as a scaled-down version of BYD’s e4 technology specifically developed for ultra-luxury cars, offering three-motor independent drive with dual-motor independent steering at the rear wheels. The Denza Z9GT was the first model to feature e3 technology.
Denza has stated that the N9 boasts a CLTC battery range exceeding 200 kilometers and a combined range of 1,300 kilometers on a full tank of fuel and a full charge. Besides the N7, Denza’s current lineup includes the Z9 sedan, Z9GT, and the D9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle).
According to data compiled by CnEVPost, Denza delivered 8,513 vehicles in February, which is up 85.15 percent year-on-year, but down 27.36 percent compared to January. From January to February, Denza delivered 20,233 vehicles, representing a 48.05 percent increase year-on-year.
