Police responded to reports of a multi-vehicle accident in Old Town, Alexandria earlier this month, but no arrest has been made. According to a recently released search warrant affidavit, the incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Monday, March 3rd.
Witnesses reported a red Mercedes-Benz colliding with a black Nissan Sentra, a white Subaru Outback, and a black Toyota Camry before overturning in the 900 block of S. Columbus Street. One witness recounted running to the vehicle where they observed a man inside the Mercedes-Benz break a window, crawl out, and stand up.
The search warrant affidavit describes the suspect as a Black male, approximately six feet two inches tall, with baby dreadlocks. He was reportedly wearing a dark hoodie, a white T-shirt, and dark pants. “(The witness) asked the male if he called 911, to which he replied, ‘You call 911,’ and then fled on foot westbound on Green Street,” police stated in the search warrant affidavit.
The Mercedes-Benz displayed temporary plates from North Carolina. However, a 50-state VIN check confirmed the vehicle was not stolen, according to radio dispatches.
