Electric Dreams: A Look at Today’s Top Electric Convertibles
Electric vehicles are here to stay, and the convertible market is starting to embrace the change. If you’re looking for a top-down driving experience with zero emissions, there are some exciting options available or on the horizon. Here’s a look at eleven of the coolest electric convertibles.
Fiat 500 Convertible

Fiat’s electric city car offers a convertible version. It’s not a true full convertible, but rather features a fabric roof that retracts towards the rear. The roof opens or closes in 25 seconds (at speeds up to 62mph). It shares the same 185-liter boot space as the hardtop version, and is equipped with the larger 42kWh battery, providing a claimed range of up to 199 miles. Starting prices are just under £30,000.
Abarth 500e Cabrio

Based on the Fiat 500, the Abarth 500e Cabrio brings a splash of color and sound to the electric convertible scene. A key feature is the ‘Abarth Sound Generator,’ a speaker system designed to emulate the throaty roar of a classic Abarth engine. It features 149bhp and 173lb ft of torque, with a 0-62mph time of 7.0 seconds. The 42kWh battery offers a range of 164 miles on the WLTP cycle.
MG Cyberster

The MG Cyberster, first previewed in 2021, has evolved into a production model with a classic roadster design, scissor doors, and a futuristic interior. Available in two versions: a single motor, rear-wheel-drive Trophy (335bhp, 0-62mph in 5.0 seconds, 316 miles of range) and a dual motor, all-wheel-drive GT (496bhp, 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds, 276 miles of range).
GMC Hummer EV

The Hummer EV isn’t a typical convertible, but it features a removable roof. Removing the four roof panels and front T-bar provides an open-air experience. The roof panels can be stored in the frunk. The Hummer EV has a 205kWh battery, paired with three e-motors, producing 1,000bhp and up to 350 miles of range.
Pininfarina B95
The Pininfarina B95 is a roofless hypercar that sits alongside the Aston Martin V12 Speedster, Ferrari Monza SP1/SP2, and McLaren Elva. Unlike the others, it’s powered solely by electricity. It uses the same powertrain as the Pininfarina Battista, with a 120kWh T-shaped battery and four motors, generating 1,874bhp and 1,696lb ft of torque, achieving 0-62mph in under two seconds.
Longbow Speedster
The Longbow Speedster, from British startup Longbow, is one of two sub-tonne all-electric sports cars hoping to launch in the next couple of years. Priced from £84,995, it has a 322bhp electric motor capable of 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds, offering up to 285 miles of range, and weighing just 895kg. Production is scheduled for as early as 2026, with 150 examples planned.
Porsche Boxster EV

The next Porsche Boxster will be electric. Though a confirmed release date hasn’t been announced, Porsche has been increasing testing. Porsche aims to retain the low-slung, mid-engined driving characteristics by positioning the batteries behind the passenger compartment instead of under the floor.
Polestar 6

The Polestar 6 is a two-seat, fully electric concept that generated enough acclaim to become a reality. Expected in 2026, the Polestar 6 will likely sit on the platform underpinning the Polestar 5. The car is expected to house two electric motors, delivering 872bhp and 664lb ft of torque, allowing it to achieve 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds.
Maserati GranCabrio Folgore
Maserati’s first all-electric car adopts a tri-motor setup paired with a 92.5kWh battery, capable of 750bhp and 995lb ft of torque, with a range of up to 280 miles. A GranCabrio version is on the way, sporting the same triple-motor configuration.
Bentley EXP 12 Speed 6e

Revealed back in 2017, the Bentley EXP 12 Speed 6e was a convertible concept. This two-seater offered a glimpse into the brand’s electric future. While the concept only had enough power for show stands, Bentley stated that any production version would have a real-world range of approximately 300 miles. With Bentley planning to release a new electric car annually between 2025 and 2030, the Continental GTC may not be too far off.
Genesis X Convertible

The Genesis X Convertible concept has an aerodynamic shape and a folding hardtop roof with glass panels above the front seats. Genesis has kept quiet on powertrain specifics. Hopefully, this model will make it to market one day.
