Electric Classic Car Replicas Cruise Through Aspen’s Gondola Plaza
Aspen, CO – Automotive aficionados and curious onlookers in Aspen are in for a treat. Miniature replicas of legendary classic cars have taken up residence in Gondola Plaza, offering a nostalgic glimpse at automotive history with a modern, electric twist.
What initially appears to be an impressive collection of vintage vehicles, upon closer inspection, reveals itself to be a collection of scaled-down replicas. These aren’t full-sized vehicles, but rather meticulously crafted, three-quarter scale models that operate on electric power. The absence of roaring engines and the telltale size difference are the first clues to their unique nature.
The display, which runs through Sunday, March 23, features a Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa, a Bugatti Type 35, and an Aston Martin DB5. These miniature marvels are the creation of Hedley Studios, a UK-based company renowned for producing officially-licensed replicas of iconic automobiles.
Models range in price from $95,000 to $250,000 and are enclosed in plexi-glass boxes. The Bugatti and Aston Martin are situated along the path to the Silver Queen Gondola, while the larger Ferrari claims a central display spot.
