Electric Pickup Trucks: A Look at the 2025 Lineup
In the early days of electric vehicles, practicality was a major hurdle. The EV-1 from General Motors, released nearly three decades ago, was a prime example. As a small two-seater with a limited range of 70-90 miles, it was more a concept car than a viable option. Fortunately, today’s electric vehicles, especially pickup trucks, offer significant improvements. These trucks boast longer ranges, enhanced usability, and features perfectly suited for their unique role. Electric motors deliver impressive torque, ideal for towing, and bidirectional charging enables power at job sites or for home backup during outages.
Furthermore, the battery pack’s low center of gravity improves ride and handling. The “frunk” (front trunk), made possible by the absence of a traditional engine, adds even more utility. Current manufacturers and startups have recognized the potential of EV pickups with several models now available. Here’s a rundown of the electric pickup truck market in 2025, ranked by price.
2025 Ford F-150 Lightning

Ford’s electric F-150 is a notable player in the EV pickup market. Having won MotorTrend’s Truck of the Year award in 2023, the model continues into 2025 with few changes before a new generation arrives next year. Starting at around $47,780 for the 2025 Pro SuperCrew Cab version, it’s the most affordable truck on our list. Despite its relatively older EV technology, the F-150 Lightning offers substantial power and utility for the price.
The 2025 Lightning features a dual-motor drivetrain as standard, with one motor for each axle, delivering all-wheel-drive. The base model produces 452 horsepower, while the extended-range trim offers 580 horsepower. Equipped with a 98 kWh battery, this truck achieves a zero to 60 mph time of 4.2 seconds. With the larger extended-range battery, acceleration improves to 3.8 seconds, and the range extends up to 320 miles. The F-150 Lightning includes desirable features such as the ability to schedule charging times, heated rear seats, 360-degree cameras, hands-free BlueCruise self-driving, and a 10,000-pound towing capacity.
2025 Chevy Silverado EV

Chevy designed the 2025 Silverado EV with the goal of offering a longer range than competitors. Car and Driver reported a base price of $58,995 for the Work Truck model. The Silverado EV boasts a range of 492 miles, surpassing rivals such as the Rivian R1T and the extended-range Tesla Cybertruck.
The Silverado EV is equipped with GM’s Ultium battery technology, which increases capacity at lower prices thanks to less cobalt. The Ultium platform allows for modular battery configurations, with up to 24 modules in the Extended Range and Max Range models. Ultium also offers fast charging, with a 90% charge possible in under an hour, and a maxed-out battery pack delivers 754 horsepower. The Silverado EV has a dual-motor setup with all-wheel drive, along with optional features like rear-wheel steering and an adaptive air suspension, with a 4.1-second zero to 60 time. The Silverado also has luxury touches such as a glass roof and 12,500 pounds of towing capacity.
2025 Rivian R1T

Rivian, an EV startup, launched the R1T pickup, which starts at $73,050. The R1T garnered attention with its retro-futuristic design. Now the R1T remains near the top of many EV lists because of its long range and fast charging.
For 2025, the R1T’s tech has been updated to outpace competitors. It features a lithium-iron-phosphate battery. Dual-motor models produce up to 665 horsepower, and the tri-motor setup boosts horsepower to 850. The quad-motor R1T offers 1,025 horsepower and a 2.5 second zero to 60 time. AWD is standard, improving the truck’s off-road capabilities, along with an air suspension. It has an 11,000-pound tow rating and can haul a 1,764-pound payload. DC fast charging allows a 10% to 80% charge in about half an hour.
2025 Cybertruck

The Tesla Cybertruck has gained significant attention in the electric truck market. The base price of the All-Wheel Drive model is approximately $79,990. Despite the Cybertruck’s distinctive design, it is valued for its blend of functionality and performance. A review on GreenCars says, “It offers a blend of standout design, functionality, and performance in a way that’s hard to ignore.”
The base range is 320 miles due to a highly efficient motor and excellent aerodynamics. The sound system and driver assist systems also receive praise. With an 11,000-pound towing capacity and a 240-volt outlet in the truck bed, the Cybertruck is a practical work truck, too.
2025 GMC Sierra EV Denali

The GMC Sierra EV Denali, starting at $89,900 brings a premium driving experience. This all-electric offering of GMC comes with a luxury interior, GM’s Super Cruise driver assistance, and huge 24-inch wheels. The Sierra EV is available only in the Denali premium trim, and it’s based around the Ultium EV platform. Its features include a 16.8-inch center touch-screen, with both the Sierra EV and Silverado EV sharing similar Ultium platforms but different exterior designs.
Two battery packs are available: the Extended Range with 645 horsepower and a 390-mile range or the Max Range model with 760 horsepower and a 460-mile range. Other features include four-wheel steering, the CrabWalk feature, the 10,000-pound tow rating, and the option for powering a home during an outage.
2025 GMC Hummer EV

The 2025 GMC Hummer EV revives a familiar name. The Hummer EV, which starts at $96,550, lives up to its brash former-gen origins. MotorTrend calls the Hummer EV “a gargantuan electric supertruck,” adding that it’s fun to drive despite its weight. The Hummer EV has powerful powertrain configurations. The Hummer EV is built on the Ultium platform like the Sierra EV Denali and the Chevy Silverado EV. With four-wheel steering and the CrabWalk feature, it boosts off-road credibility. This vehicle boasts up to 12,000 pounds for towing and 1,485 pounds for hauling, giving it a great balance of practicality and image.
