Enabling Cookies for Full Website Functionality

Websites often use cookies to personalize your experience, remember your preferences, and provide access to certain features. Blocking cookies may limit your access to content, features, or personalization options. For more details, please consult our Cookie Policy.

Facebook App: Open Links in External Browser

There’s an occasional issue with the Facebook in-app browser where it might make requests to websites without using cookies that were previously set. This seems to be a browser bug that will hopefully be resolved. The workaround is to keep using the Facebook app, but to avoid the in-app browser. To do this:

    1. Open the settings menu by tapping the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the top right corner.
    2. Choose “App Settings” from the menu.
    3. Turn on the “Links Open Externally” option. This will make the links open in your device’s default browser.

    Enabling Cookies in Specific Browsers

Here’s how to enable cookies in some of the most popular web browsers:

    Internet Explorer 7, 8 & 9

    1. Open Internet Explorer.
    2. Click Tools > Internet Options > Privacy > Advanced.
    3. Check “Override automatic cookie handling.”
    4. Under “First-party Cookies” and “Third-party Cookies,” select “Accept.”
    5. Click “OK,” then click “OK” again.

    Firefox

    1. Open Firefox.
    2. Click Tools > Options > Privacy > Use custom settings for history.
    3. Check “Accept cookies from sites.”
    4. Check “Accept third-party cookies.”
    5. Select “Keep until: they expire.”
    6. Click “OK.”

    Google Chrome

    1. Open Google Chrome.
    2. Click Tools > Options > Privacy Options > Under the Hood > Content Settings.
    3. Check “Allow local data to be set.”
    4. Uncheck “Block third-party cookies.”
    5. Uncheck “Clear cookies and site data when you quit Chrome.”
    6. Close the settings tab.

    Mobile Safari (iPhone, iPad)

    1. Go to your home screen by pressing the Home button or unlocking your iPhone/iPad.
    2. Tap the Settings icon.
    3. In the settings menu, select Safari.
    4. In the Safari menu, tap ‘accept cookies.’
    5. In the ‘accept cookies’ menu, select ‘from visited.’
    6. Tap the Home button to return to your iPhone/iPad home screen.
    7. Tap the Safari icon to go back to Safari.
    8. Safari has to restart before the cookie settings will be updated. Restart Safari by pressing and holding the Home button (for about five seconds) until the display goes blank and the home screen appears.
    9. Tap the Safari icon to return to Safari.
