Estacada Man Faces Federal Charges for Trafficking Large Quantity of Methamphetamine
Anthony Barrera, 29, of Estacada, Oregon, has been charged with possessing methamphetamine and cocaine with the intent to distribute. The charges stem from an investigation that led to Barrera’s arrest on May 24, 2025, while driving a rental vehicle on Interstate 5 near Roseburg, Oregon.
According to court documents, investigators had been tracking Barrera’s activities and learned that he had rented a vehicle to travel to California to obtain large quantities of drugs for distribution in Oregon. Upon stopping Barrera at a rest area, agents executed a federal search warrant on the vehicle and seized 270 pounds of methamphetamine and two pounds of cocaine hidden in the backseat and cargo area.
A subsequent search of Barrera’s residence the same day resulted in the seizure of two firearms concealed under the floor of a closet. Barrera made his initial appearance in federal court and was ordered detained pending further proceedings.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the Multnomah County Dangerous Drug Team (DDT), with the case being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Charlotte Kelley. The Multnomah County DDT is a multi-agency task force supported by the Oregon-Idaho High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program.
It’s important to note that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation, and Barrera is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
