New car registrations within the European Union saw a downturn in January 2025, according to recent data. Overall, the number of new vehicles registered across the bloc fell by 2.6% during the period.
Significant declines were observed in several key European markets. France experienced the most substantial drop among the major economies, with a decrease of 6.2% in new car registrations. Italy followed closely behind, recording a 5.8% decline, while Germany saw a decrease of 2.8%.
In contrast to the general trend, Spain showed positive growth in January, with new car registrations increasing by 5.3%.
