Euro NCAP Reveals Safest Vans: Ford, VW, and Farizon Lead the Way
Euro NCAP has released its latest safety ratings for new-generation vans, with the Ford Transit, Volkswagen Transporter, and Farizon SV emerging as the safest in their class. These three vans have achieved the prestigious Platinum rating from the independent safety assessment body.
The Ford Transit, a stalwart in the van market, has become the fourth Ford Pro van to receive Euro NCAP’s Platinum safety award, following in the footsteps of the Transit Custom, Transit Connect, and Transit Courier, which all achieved this honor in 2023. This latest recognition underscores Ford Pro’s commitment to safety across its entire van lineup.

“Safety is essential for businesses, and Euro NCAP’s Platinum rating for the entire Transit family demonstrates Ford Pro’s ongoing commitment to protecting both drivers and cargo,” said a Ford representative, highlighting the brand’s dedication to safety.
The Ford Transit’s safety features include Pre-Crash Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, and Intelligent Speed Assist, which are now standard across the range. These advancements contributed to the Transit achieving an overall safety score of 95%, with particular praise for its Driver Safety Monitoring and Lane Keeping Assist systems.
The Volkswagen Transporter, which shares a platform with the Ford Transit, also benefited from the advanced safety technologies developed by Ford. Its Platinum rating is a testament to the effectiveness of these shared technologies.
In a surprise achievement, the Farizon SV, a large electric van manufactured by the Chinese company Geely, also secured a Platinum rating. This demonstrates that Eastern manufacturers are increasingly capable of competing with their European counterparts not only in terms of efficiency but also in safety.
While the Stellantis family vans, including the Fiat Scudo, Peugeot Expert, Opel Vivaro, and Citroën Jumpy, did not achieve Platinum status, they came close with a rating just one level below.
The latest Euro NCAP ratings continue to push the boundaries of van safety, with manufacturers like Ford, Volkswagen, and Farizon leading the charge. As the van market continues to evolve, with increasing emphasis on electric vehicles and advanced safety features, these ratings provide valuable insights for businesses and drivers alike.
