Fatal Crash in Rock Island County
A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred Friday morning, May 30, 2025, in rural Rock Island County, Illinois. The incident involved a dump truck and a pickup truck on 70th Street West near Reynolds, approximately between Taylor Ridge and Reynolds.
According to the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 9 a.m. in the 14700 block of 70th Street West. The driver of the pickup truck, who was the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. The dump truck driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
The collision resulted in a diesel fuel spill, prompting a hazardous materials response from the MABAS Division 39 HAZMAT Team. Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.
The Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident and is asking anyone with information to contact their office. Route 94 (70th Street W.) near 148th Avenue W. remains closed to traffic. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
