SALT LAKE CITY — A collision involving a truck and a motorcycle resulted in one fatality, leading to a temporary closure of State Street in Salt Lake City.
Emergency services, including the Salt Lake City Police Department and Fire Department, were called to the scene near 1700 S State Street shortly before 6:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital. Sadly, the person later died from their injuries.
According to reports, the driver of the other vehicle is cooperating with the ongoing police investigation.
Authorities have rerouted all southbound traffic on State Street at Kensington Avenue. Westbound traffic on 1700 South is being directed to northbound State Street.
No identities have been released by officials at this time.
This incident marks the second traffic-related fatality within Salt Lake City in 2025.
The police department indicated that the crash may have been preventable. Investigators are examining evidence such as skid marks, traffic light patterns, the timing of events, and any available video footage to determine the details.
