Renault 5: The Electric Supercar Reimagined
The Renault 5 is an icon. For generations, this hatchback has been a symbol of French automotive design. Now, Renault is writing a new chapter in the 5’s story, and it’s electric – and it’s a monster. The 5 Turbo 3E is here, and it may be the first of its kind: a small, all-electric supercar.

A Legacy of Fun
French carmakers often produce small, agile, and uniquely engaging vehicles. The Peugeot 205 and the Alpine A110 are perfect examples. But the Renault 5 stood out.
Launched in 1972, the Renault 5 immediately garnered praise. It was ahead of its time, arriving years before the Volkswagen Polo and the Ford Fiesta. Then, in 1980, the legend transformed with the arrival of the 5 Turbo, a rear mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive beast perfect for rally racing.

Electric Power, Supercar Performance
The Renault 5 E-Tech was revealed at the Geneva International Motor Show, and the reviews have been glowing. Now, Renault has unveiled the 5 Turbo 3E, and it’s truly extraordinary.
The retro color scheme harks back to the 1982 Renault 5 Turbo rally car. However, it’s under the hood where the 5 Turbo 3E really shines. The all-electric powertrain generates an impressive 540 horsepower and a top speed of 168 mph. From a 15% charge, it can reach 80% in just 15 minutes.

Pricing and Customization
The price tag hasn’t been officially released, but it’s not going to be cheap. Rumors suggest a starting price around $170,000. Bespoke customization options could easily push that price tag north of $250,000. Renault promises bucket seats and a vertical, old-school handbrake.
If the 5 Turbo 3E doesn’t get your heart racing, it is difficult to imagine what will. The car is a fascinating development in the electric vehicle market, combining classic design with cutting-edge technology.
