Ford has issued a critical recall for 2,345 of its 2025 Super Duty pickup trucks, warning owners not to drive the vehicles until a brake system repair is performed. The recall affects F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 models manufactured between March 19 and May 4 of this year.
The issue stems from the brake booster pushrod’s retaining spring, which was not installed during manufacturing. This missing component can cause the brake booster pushrod to separate from the brake pedal, resulting in sudden brake failure. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) notes that this loss of braking function significantly increases the risk of a crash, particularly concerning given that these heavy-duty trucks can weigh over four tons and tow twice that amount.

The recall, officially submitted to NHTSA on June 13, covers various Super Duty models. Ford dealerships will inspect and repair the brake pedal assembly free of charge, as required by federal law. Owners are expected to receive notification letters starting June 18. In the meantime, concerned owners can contact Ford’s customer service at 866-436-7332 to inquire about recall 25C26 or check the NHTSA recall checker online.
This urgent recall highlights the critical importance of functional braking systems in heavy-duty vehicles, emphasizing the potential dangers of brake failure in large trucks. Ford’s proactive ‘Do Not Drive’ advisory demonstrates the seriousness of the issue and the company’s commitment to addressing the safety concern.
