Ford Motor Company has initiated two separate recalls in Canada, impacting around 15,000 vehicles. The recalls affect certain models of pickup trucks and large SUVs due to potential issues with steering and braking.
The first recall concerns the braking system in 2022 to 2024 models of the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs, affecting approximately 13,000 vehicles. According to the recall notice, the front brake lines may have been bent during engine installation, potentially causing damage from contact with the engine air cleaner outlet pipe. This could lead to a brake fluid leak, resulting in reduced braking performance. The recall, posted by Transport Canada on May 23, warns that reduced braking can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise them to take their vehicles to a dealership for inspection. If necessary, the front brake lines and/or the air cleaner outlet pipe will be replaced. This measure aims to prevent potential accidents caused by compromised braking performance.
The second recall involves steering issues in around 1,800 Ford F-150 pickup trucks from the 2025 model year. The recall notice states that the bolt used to attach the lower steering shaft to the steering gear may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the connection could loosen, causing a loss of steering control. This issue poses a significant safety risk, as loss of steering control could increase the likelihood of a crash.
In response, Ford will notify affected owners by mail and instruct them to take their trucks to a dealership for inspection. If necessary, the lower steering shaft bolt will be replaced to ensure proper steering functionality.
Both recalls underscore the importance of addressing potential safety issues promptly to prevent accidents and ensure vehicle reliability.
