Ford has issued a recall for 11,745 F-250, F-350, and F-450 Super Duty trucks from the 2025 model year. The recall is due to a potential problem where the steering column shifters could detach while in use.
If the shifter mechanism comes loose while the vehicle isn’t in park, the driver won’t be able to engage park. “In this case, the vehicle may roll if the parking brake is not manually applied, increasing the risk of a crash,” Ford stated in their notice. Ford informed federal safety officials that the issue stems from factory workers assembling the steering column with “misaligned welds attaching the shifter mechanism.”
To rectify the problem, dealers will replace the entire steering column. As with all recalls, this repair will be offered free of charge. While manufacturers make every effort to contact all vehicle owners, some may not receive the notification.
