Ford Cuts Mustang Mach-E Prices in Australia

Ford Australia has significantly reduced the prices of its Mustang Mach-E electric SUV models in an effort to clear inventory. The price cuts are part of a broader trend among electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers to adjust pricing strategies.

    Price Reductions Across Variants

The top-spec Mach-E GT now comes with a driveaway price of $94,000, representing a discount of over $12,000 from its original price of $106,040 in NSW. The mid-spec Premium variant has seen its price reduced by more than $9,000 to $77,000. Even the entry-level Mach-E Select has been discounted by over $7,000, bringing its driveaway price down to $63,000.

    Sales Performance

Since its launch in 2023, the Mustang Mach-E has recorded 905 sales over 18 months, with 51 sales in 2023, 673 in 2024, and 181 in the first four months of 2025. The model was Ford’s first electric passenger car in the Australian market.

    Technical Specifications

The Mach-E Select features a 71 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery pack, delivering up to 470 km of range with its single-motor powertrain producing 198 kW and 430 Nm of torque. The Premium variant boasts a larger 91 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 600 km and 216 kW of power. The performance-oriented GT variant, also equipped with the 91 kWh battery, achieves 358 kW of power and 860 Nm of torque through its all-wheel-drive system, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.7 seconds.

    Market Context

This price reduction follows similar moves by other EV brands such as BYD, Chery, MG, Tesla, and Jeep, indicating a competitive pricing environment in the Australian EV market. The Mustang Mach-E remains a significant model for Ford in this space, being its first and currently only electric passenger vehicle in the local market.
