At approximately 2:39 p.m. on Monday, Loebardo Delgadillo, 31, of Friona, was driving a 2015 Ford F-150 northeast on US 60, roughly 4.5 miles southwest of Friona. The vehicle was traveling through a construction zone when, for reasons still under investigation, it veered from its lane.
The truck then entered the construction area, colliding with a series of retaining walls before coming to a stop, according to a preliminary investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). Delgadillo was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
Conditions at the time of the accident were clear, with dry weather reported. The Texas Highway Patrol conducted the investigation.
