Chinese car manufacturer GAC has officially launched its range of electric and hybrid vehicles in Brazil, marking a significant entry into the country’s rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) market. The launch event featured five new models, including four all-electric SUVs and one hybrid vehicle. The introduced models include the Aion V, Aion Y, Hyptec HT, Trumpchi GS4 (hybrid), and Aion ES.
Market Expansion and Local Production Plans
GAC has established a network of 33 dealerships across Brazil to support the market launch of its new electric and hybrid vehicles. The company is optimistic about future demand, with plans to start constructing a local production plant by the end of 2026. This move is part of GAC’s ‘Brazil Action Plan,’ which includes an investment of six billion reais (approximately 930 million euros) over five years. According to Wei Haigang, President of GAC International, the company aims to sell 100,000 vehicles in Brazil within the next five years.
Global Ambitions
GAC’s Brazilian venture is part of its broader global expansion strategy, known as the ‘Panyu Action’ roadmap. The company aims to export 500,000 vehicles to 100 countries by 2027. In 2024, GAC achieved a significant milestone by selling over 100,000 vehicles abroad for the first time, representing a 92.3% increase from the previous year.

The entry of GAC into Brazil’s automotive market intensifies competition in what is the world’s sixth-largest automotive market. Other Chinese brands such as BYD, Chery, and GWM are already established in Brazil. GAC’s investment and expansion plans signal a strong commitment to the local market and reflect the growing global presence of Chinese automotive manufacturers in the electric vehicle segment.
