Genesis GV90: A $160,000 Luxury EV That’s Turning Heads
Genesis has unveiled the production model of its flagship electric SUV, the GV90. Set to launch early next year, this ultra-luxury, full-size electric vehicle is attracting attention with its futuristic design and premium features.
Peter Johnson of Electrek provided an early look at the vehicle.
The 2026 GV90 is instantly recognizable as a Genesis, featuring the brand’s signature two-line LED headlamps and rear lights. Distinctive design elements include frameless windows, a floating roof, flush door handles, and coach doors similar to those on Rolls-Royce models.
The interior design echoes the Neolun concept, presenting a smooth and seamless aesthetic. The design balances metal accents, dark wood, and silk leather. A notable feature that will appeal to drivers in colder climates is the ondol-style underfloor heating system, which enhances heating efficiency.
Beyond aesthetics, the GV90 is designed for performance. According to Genesis of South Bay, the SUV will boast impressive specs, with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that delivers up to 500 horsepower, enabling a 0 to 60 mph acceleration in 4.5 seconds. Its fast-charging, high-capacity battery can recharge to 80% in just 20 minutes, providing a range of approximately 300 miles.
In addition to the 24.6-inch infotainment dashboard display featured in other Genesis models, the GV90 will offer ceiling-mounted folding rear displays, voice command recognition, navigation functionality, and remote digital keys.
Genesis emphasizes sustainability in its electric models, incorporating environmentally friendly and responsibly sourced materials. The GV90 is expected to feature natural or recycled materials in its design.
While the GV90 offers luxury and performance, it comes at a price. The projected range is between $80,000 and $160,000, a premium compared to other EVs. However, long-term savings on fuel and maintenance may make it a worthwhile investment for those seeking a luxurious EV experience.
Choosing the right EV involves evaluating factors such as charging infrastructure, driving range, and lifestyle needs. While the GV90 presents a compelling option in the luxury EV segment, other models might align better with individual budgets, driving habits, and personal preferences.
