The States of Guernsey is set to enhance its electric vehicle infrastructure with plans to install eight new public electric car charging bays across the island. According to officials, these new charging points will be located in the Odeon and Salerie car parks, pending planning permission. Additionally, two new charging bays will be dedicated to shared mobility services, allowing residents to book vehicles on demand.
Laura Oxburgh, head of on-island travel and transport implementation, highlighted that the number of electric vehicles on Guernsey has tripled since 2020. This significant increase underscores the growing popularity of electric vehicles and the need for supporting charging infrastructure. Oxburgh emphasized that Evie is currently the local provider that will be granted permits for the new charging spaces.
