Honda’s E-VO Electric Motorcycle Unveiled with Impressive Specifications
Honda has finally revealed its highly anticipated electric motorcycle, the E-VO, mere months after filing patents for the innovative vehicle. The E-VO represents Honda’s closest attempt at a full-sized electric motorcycle yet, packed with cutting-edge technology, performance, and equipment.
Range and Charging Capabilities
The E-VO is equipped with a 74V 84Ah (~6.2 kWh) lithium-ion battery, promising a maximum range of 105.6 miles as calculated by the WMTC method. This surpasses its Japanese competitors, including the Kawasaki Ninja e-1 and Z e-1. Charging from 20 to 80 percent takes an impressive 2.5 hours using the home charger, which can be reduced to 1.5 hours with a car charger. However, the battery is not removable for quick swapping.

Performance and Specifications
The E-VO is powered by a 15.8 kW electric motor, achieving a top speed of 75 miles per hour. Honda claims the motorcycle can accelerate from 0 to 30 miles per hour in under three seconds. The vehicle features a single-speed transmission with a Continental belt driving the rear wheel, ensuring a smooth twist-and-go experience without the need for gear-shifting.
Advanced Features and Equipment
The E-VO boasts an array of modern features that elevate its overall package. A prominent seven-inch TFT instrument cluster works in tandem with a smaller secondary TFT display on the tank, offering smartphone connectivity, NFC, and turn-by-turn navigation. Additional features include traction control, three ride modes, TPMS, cruise control, and a reverse gear. Notably, the E-VO is equipped with 1080P front and rear cameras, complete with a dedicated handlebar switch for on-the-fly recording.
Market Availability
Currently, Honda has launched the E-VO exclusively in China under its Wuyang-Honda initiative, with a price tag equivalent to $5,100. A lower-range version is available for $4,100, albeit with reduced range and performance. The significant question remains whether Honda will bring the E-VO to international markets, particularly as it presents a compelling alternative to the existing miniMOTO range.
