Hyundai Leads 2025 Best Hybrid and Electric Cars Awards
For the second consecutive year, Hyundai has taken the top spot in the 2025 Best Hybrid and Electric Cars awards announced by U.S. News & World Report. The global authority in rankings and consumer advice evaluated 115 vehicles across 10 categories, recognizing the top electrified vehicles in their respective segments.

“As consumers continue to show strong interest in owning hybrid and electric vehicles – and as automakers keep releasing new models – there are ever more options to choose from,” said Alex Kwanten, U.S. News managing editor, Autos. “Whether carbuyers are looking for a luxury or an affordable car, SUV or truck, the 2025 Best Hybrid and Electric Cars awards recognize the top electrified vehicles in their respective categories.”
Hyundai secured three awards in 2025, with the following vehicles retaining their titles:
- Hyundai Ioniq 5: Best Electric SUV
- Hyundai Ioniq 6: Best Electric Car
- Hyundai Tucson Hybrid: Best Hybrid SUV
Other repeat winners include:
- Ford F-150 Lightning: Best Electric Truck (since 2023)
- Lucid Air: Best Luxury Electric Car (for four consecutive years)
- Toyota Camry: Best Hybrid Car
- Lexus NX Hybrid: Best Luxury Hybrid
First-time winners in 2025 were:
- Rivian R1S: Best Luxury Electric SUV, recognized for its impressive range, enhanced performance, and updated infotainment system
- Volvo XC60 Plug-In Hybrid: Best Luxury Plug-In Hybrid, praised for its zippy acceleration, comfortable seats, and numerous standard features
- Mazda CX-90 PHEV: Best Plug-In Hybrid, noted for its outstanding powertrain, athletic handling, and well-appointed interior
U.S. News based their evaluations on factors including gas mileage and range data from the EPA, pricing information, and the consensus opinion of the automotive press. The winners were chosen for their best combination of quality, efficiency, and value within their segment.
