Hyundai has achieved a significant milestone by retaining three titles in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Hybrid & Electric Cars awards, making it the most awarded brand overall. The IONIQ 5 won Best Electric SUV, IONIQ 6 took Best Electric Car, and Tucson Hybrid secured Best Hybrid SUV.

The awards, which evaluated over 100 vehicles across ten categories, recognize the top electrified vehicles in their respective segments. U.S. News considered factors such as EPA gas mileage and range data, pricing information, and the consensus opinion of the automotive press to determine the winners.

Ricky Lao, director of product planning at Hyundai Motor North America, stated, “Hyundai is dedicated to eco-friendly propulsions for ‘Progress for Humanity,’ our North Star.” He added that winning the most awards for the second consecutive year highlights Hyundai’s engineering prowess and innovation.

Alex Kwanten, managing editor of Autos for U.S. News & World Report, noted that the winning vehicles are not only efficient but also intrinsically desirable. “The IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 both mix excellent real-world range and charging capability with good driving dynamics, premium features, and distinctive styles,” he said. “The Tucson, meanwhile, has a combination of space, efficiency, and user-friendliness that’s very hard to beat.”

U.S. News evaluated 115 luxury and affordable hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric cars, SUVs, and trucks to identify the leaders in each category. The winners were chosen based on their combination of quality, value, and efficiency in their segment.

This achievement underscores Hyundai’s commitment to its ‘Progress for Humanity’ vision through innovative and eco-friendly vehicles. Hyundai Motor America continues to support this vision with a technology-rich lineup of cars, SUVs, and electrified vehicles in the U.S. market.
