SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – With the increasing prevalence of electric vehicles on the road, clean energy advocates are calling for more aggressive measures to curb pollution from cars and trucks. The Illinois Pollution Control Board (IPCB) convened with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Monday in Springfield to advocate for more stringent vehicle emission standards.
Health experts and energy advocates emphasized the advantages of electric vehicles and the health hazards linked to air pollution from conventional vehicles. The IPCB noted that more than a dozen other states have already implemented more rigorous emission standards for cars and trucks.
