Officials in Richland County, Wisconsin, arrested an Iowa man on June 23 after finding him asleep in a reported stolen pickup truck. The Richland County Sheriff’s Office conducted a welfare check on the older-model black vehicle around 10:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 14 between Gotham and Lone Rock. Iowa authorities had previously reported the truck stolen and warned that the suspect, 40-year-old Ryan Troendale from Waukon, Iowa, should be considered a potential threat due to his history.
Troendale initially cooperated when deputies ordered him to exit the vehicle but subsequently refused to follow further instructions. Backup was called, and when Troendale continued to resist, officers used a taser to subdue him. Once in custody, he was identified as the original thief of the vehicle.
The truck has been returned to its rightful owner, and Troendale is facing charges in his home state of Iowa. No further details about the case have been released.
