Isuzu’s First Electric Truck: D-Max EV Pickup
Isuzu has started mass-producing its first all-electric pickup truck, the D-Max EV, in Thailand. The new electric vehicle features a dual-motor four-wheel-drive system, producing 140kW of power. According to Isuzu, the D-Max EV matches the performance of its diesel-powered sibling.
The D-Max EV boasts a towing capacity of 7,716 pounds (3,500kg), identical to the diesel model, and a payload capacity of approximately 2,226 pounds (1,010kg). The slight reduction in payload capacity is likely due to the 66.9kWh battery pack. The truck has an estimated range of up to 163 miles (263km) per full charge under Europe’s WLTP standard, extending to 224 miles in city driving conditions.

The D-Max EV closely resembles its diesel counterpart, measuring 207 inches in length, comparable to the popular Ford Ranger (210 inches). Isuzu plans to introduce the electric pickup in left-hand drive European countries in the third quarter of this year, followed by a right-hand drive version in the UK in February 2026.
While Isuzu has not announced pricing, the current diesel model sells for around $41,600. The company intends to expand the D-Max EV to other markets based on demand but has not confirmed if it will enter the US market.

The introduction of the D-Max EV marks Isuzu’s entry into the electric pickup segment, competing with established models like the Ford Ranger in Europe.
