California-based Karma Automotive has revealed the Amaris, a sleek two-door luxury sports car that promises to blend elegant design with cutting-edge technology. The Amaris, built on an all-aluminum spaceframe with aluminum and carbon fiber body components, represents Karma’s latest endeavor to establish itself in the luxury automotive market.

The Amaris builds upon the design language established by its four-door sibling, the Revero, itself an evolution of the original Fisker Karma. The coupe features “swan doors” designed for easy entry and exit, along with 22-inch forged aluminum wheels, and a clamshell hood. A pass-through spoiler at the rear is designed to reduce drag and increase downforce, enhancing both aesthetics and performance. The company says the Amaris will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 165 mph.
Beneath the Amaris’s stylish exterior lies an innovative powertrain. It will be an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV), meaning it will use a BMW-sourced four-cylinder gas engine coupled to an electric generator. This setup will provide additional range when the battery is depleted. While the exact specifications remain undisclosed, Karma has confirmed the use of the BMW engine is an upgrade compared to its current three-cylinder engine. The engine will not directly power the wheels; instead, it will turn a generator that sends electricity to the battery pack, which in turn powers electric motors that drive the wheels.
The Amaris will be based on an evolution of the all-aluminum spaceframe that origins from the Revero. This allows Karma to expedite development and bring the coupe to market more efficiently. Karma’s plans include the Invictus going on sale in Q2 2024, the revised Gyesera EREV in Q4 2025, the Amaris coupe by Q4 2026, the Kaveya all-electric “super-coupe” in 2027, and the Ivara electric SUV in 2028. The Gyesera, which was originally planned as an all-electric sedan, will now also employ an EREV powertrain, aligning with shifts in the near-term market demand for EVs. The Gyesera is a revised version of the Revero.
With the Amaris, Karma Automotive aims to redefine luxury and performance, integrating a sophisticated powertrain into a head-turning coupe. Sales of the Karma Amaris coupe are slated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
