Karma Automotive Charges Ahead with the Amaris Coupe

Karma Automotive is venturing into a new era with the unveiling of the Amaris, a two-door coupe that marks a significant step in the brand’s evolution. This striking machine, slated for production in late 2026, embodies Karma’s dedication to merging innovation with luxury, focusing on performance, design, and the efficiency of its range-extending technology. The California-based automaker is signaling its future direction with this new model, expanding its reach into the coupe segment.

    Design That Commands Attention

The Amaris stands apart, drawing inspiration from Karma’s design history while forging its own path. The vehicle’s low-slung, sculpted body prioritizes both aerodynamics and aesthetics. Its flowing silhouette is highlighted by a dramatic Comet Line that runs along the sides, complemented by distinctive swan doors that open with flair. The coupe features a clamshell hood, target lighting, and a rear aero pass-through spoiler, all contributing to its futuristic appeal.

Adding to its presence are 22-inch forged Constellation wheels, wrapped in performance rubber, emphasizing the car’s muscular wheel arches. The construction utilizes carbon fiber and aluminum to reduce weight and create a rigid structure supporting its dynamic capabilities. From a design perspective, the Amaris is a concept car brought to life, showcasing Karma’s commitment to expressive styling.

    Next-Level Performance with EREV Power

What sets the Amaris apart isn’t just its distinctive appearance; it’s also the innovative powertrain. Karma’s latest EREV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle) system is the most powerful yet, combining a turbocharged four-cylinder generator with dual electric motors. This setup promises rapid acceleration and impressive long-distance capabilities.

While precise performance figures have yet to be released, Karma anticipates that the Amaris will hit 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 165 mph. This positions the coupe firmly within the realm of high-performance vehicles, particularly for a vehicle that isn’t solely reliant on battery power.

By integrating an internal combustion engine as a generator to recharge the battery pack, the Amaris offers the benefits of an EV with the extended range of a gasoline-powered vehicle. This hybrid-electric approach provides instant power delivery with the flexibility of a gas-powered vehicle.

    Expanding the Karma Lineup

The introduction of the Amaris marks the beginning of an ambitious expansion for Karma. The Gyesera sedan, initially designed as an all-electric model, will now launch as an EREV in late 2025, effectively replacing the Revero. This shift streamlines Karma’s product strategy, allowing it to focus on its range-extended powertrain technology.

Both the Amaris and Gyesera are built on Karma’s aluminum spaceframe platform, a modular structure initially developed for the Revero. The flexibility of this chassis allows Karma to scale production across multiple body styles, keeping development timelines under control. Additional models are in the pipeline: the fully electric Kaveya super-coupe is expected in 2027, and the Ivara GT-UV, a performance crossover, is slated for 2028.

Although specific pricing and detailed specifications remain undisclosed, Karma is positioning itself as a major player in the performance luxury EV market in the coming years.

    Looking Ahead

Under the leadership of Karma President Marques McCammon, the company is focused on a future that combines driving excitement with innovative engineering. “With the Amaris and upcoming Gyesera, we’re building a lineup that delivers EV-like torque with the freedom of extended range,” McCammon stated during the unveiling. This demonstrates Karma’s determination to evolve beyond its niche status.

Karma’s approach to the EV market is unique: instead of pursuing complete electrification, the brand is refining and perfecting its EREV technology. This strategy offers drivers real-world advantages, combining power, performance, and practicality into one package.

With its production window set for the fourth quarter of 2026, the Amaris is already generating anticipation. For those watching Karma’s evolution, this coupe signifies more than just a new model—it’s a statement of intent. With its blend of performance, distinctive styling, and forward-thinking drivetrain, the Amaris is prepared to make a significant impact.
