KGM’s Musso EV: Korea’s Groundbreaking Electric Pickup
KGM, formerly known as KG Mobility, has launched South Korea’s first all-electric pickup truck: the Musso EV. This vehicle is already making a significant impact, with the Special Edition selling out rapidly and initial order numbers indicating strong consumer interest.
KGM, a well-established South Korean automaker, has a reputation for manufacturing robust 4x4s, SUVs, and pickup trucks. The introduction of the Musso EV on March 5th marks a pivotal moment for the company. The truck combines the practicality of a pickup with the comfort associated with an SUV, attracting a wide range of buyers.

Within just two weeks of its launch, KGM announced that the electric pickup had secured over 3,200 pre-orders. Furthermore, the “Musso EV Special Edition (SE)” model was completely sold out in a mere 90 minutes. The company is promoting the Musso EV as a compelling alternative to mid-size SUVs, suitable for everyday family use, with the added benefit of more interior space and hauling capability.

Interior and Features
The Musso EV boasts a “Slim & Wide” interior design. The centerpiece is a panoramic widescreen display, featuring dual 12.3-inch digital clusters and navigation screens.

Standard features include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, ClearSite Ground View cameras for enhanced visibility, and a wireless phone charger.
Performance and Specifications
Powering the Musso EV is an 86.6 kWh LFP battery, offering a driving range of nearly 250 miles (400 km). With fast charging capabilities up to 200 kWh, the battery can recharge from 0 to 80% in approximately 24 minutes. Moreover, the Musso EV offers V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) functionality, making it possible to power external devices, such as worksites, camping gear, and electronics.

The truck is available in both single-motor (FWD – Front Wheel Drive) and dual-motor (AWD – All-Wheel Drive) configurations. The FWD version features a 152.2 kW front motor, generating up to 207 horsepower, while the AWD setup delivers a robust 413 horsepower. The Musso EV is capable of towing close to 4,000 lbs (1.8 tons), and it incorporates a “trailer sway function” to improve vehicle stability during towing operations.

With dimensions of 5,160 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,740 mm in height, the Musso EV is comparable in size to the Ford Ranger.

Pricing and Market Strategy
The base price for Korea’s first electric pickup starts at 48 million won, which is approximately $32,800. However, with government incentives, KGM anticipates that the effective purchase price will fall to around 39.62 million won (about $27,000).

In response to the launch, a KGM spokesperson stated that the electric Musso EV pickup is designed to attract a diverse customer base, adding, “We hope that it will break the electric vehicle chasm and continue to successfully establish itself in the market.”
