The Kia EV3, slated to go on sale in the US in 2026, marks a significant step forward for the brand, introducing several innovative features.

The EV3 is the first Kia model to integrate Kia CarPay, a feature designed to streamline payments, like parking fees. Furthermore, it’s the first to include an AI assistant powered by ChatGPT, enhancing in-car voice suggestions. Inside, the EV3 showcases Kia’s commitment to sustainability by incorporating various recycled plastics, including materials collected through its Ocean Cleanup project. These recycled materials comprise 40 percent of the EV3’s trunk liner, indicating Kia’s broader plans to increase usage of sustainable materials.

Kia estimates the EV3’s starting price at around 36,000 euros (approximately $37,800), positioning it between the EV2 and EV4. All three models are expected to retail for under 40,000 euros ($42,000), an appealing price point as EV adoption continues to grow.
Another exciting development for Kia is the forthcoming Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) lineup, beginning with the PV5. This modular electric van will be available in four variants: cargo, passenger, crew, and a wheelchair access vehicle (WAV).

While Kia has not confirmed US sales for the PV5, the WAV version is especially promising, intended to offer expanded mobility options. Kia is collaborating with BraunAbility, an Indiana-based company that creates wheelchair-accessible vans, to develop the PV5 WAV. In addition, a partnership with German van conversion company Westfalia is under consideration, with Kia exploring the possibility of marketing the PV5 as a camper van, a concept also explored at SEMA last year.
The side-door ramp on the PV5 WAV can support loads up to 661 lbs (300 kg) and loads from the passenger side. Kia notes that this design enables wheelchair users and passengers to enter and exit through the same point on the curb, improving safety. Because the ramp is factory-installed, owners avoid the costly and time-consuming process of converting a van through a specialty shop.

Kia has not yet decided whether to import the PV5 to North America. Other PV5 versions include passenger, cargo, and crew cab models. Kia has been working with rideshare services like Uber and taxi companies to better understand mobility solutions, like metering.
Kia executives have stated that PV5 production is scheduled to start in July for Europe and South Korea.
