Kia EV3: New Affordable Electric SUV Debuts in Australia
The 2025 Kia EV3 is poised to become the South Korean automaker’s most accessible electric vehicle in Australia. Set to arrive in dealerships later this month, the EV3 promises an appealing combination of affordability and range, with pricing starting below $50,000 drive-away.
The 2025 Kia EV3 aims to compete with rivals with a range of up to 604km.
The EV3 will be available in four different model grades. The entry-level model starts at $47,600 before on-road costs, or between $48,990 and $49,990 drive-away depending on the state of registration. This undercuts the larger Kia EV5 and the Hyundai Kona Electric.
The entry-level EV3 boasts a competitive driving range of 436km, comparable to the top-of-the-line BYD Atto 3 (420km). Even the highest-spec GT-Line version is priced lower than the base model Niro EV.
Based on an adapted version of the Kia group’s E-GMP platform, the EV3 adopts front-wheel drive architecture with a 400-volt system to reduce cost. The EV3 is similar in size to the Kia Seltos.
Standard features across the range include dual 12.3-inch screens, wireless phone charging, LED headlights, and advanced safety features, including automatic lane-change capabilities.
More expensive variants add a power tailgate, leather-look seats, a head-up display, and a sunroof. The GT-Line offers unique interior and exterior styling.
The entry-level EV3 features a 58.3kWh battery paired with a 150kW/283Nm front-mounted electric motor. This combination delivers the 436km range. The Air Long Range extends the range to 604km, thanks to an 81.4kWh battery. The Earth and GT-Line models offer a range of 563km due to their larger wheels.
The EV3 also introduces the new i-Pedal 3.0 system, which allows drivers to adjust the regenerative braking strength without disabling the one-pedal driving setting.
Boot space is rated at 460 liters with the rear seats up, plus an additional 25L under the bonnet.
Eight exterior colors are available. The Earth grade offers a choice of interior colors.
The 2025 Kia EV3 is currently on sale, with deliveries beginning this month.
