Kia UK has launched its PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicle) commercial vehicle plans at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show. The company is introducing a dedicated network of PBV Centres across the UK to support sales, after-sales service, and vehicle maintenance for its commercial products.
Dedicated Commercial Network
Kia is establishing a brand-new network of professional business van centres nationwide. Initially, around 45 centres will open, offering sales and after-sales services, with plans to expand to 60 by the end of next year. These PBV Centres will be equipped with dedicated facilities and specialist resources to support customers efficiently.
Most new centres will be operated by existing Kia partners experienced in commercial vehicles. Further announcements about partner details will follow in the coming months, with the centres set to open in Q4 2025, coinciding with the first PV5 deliveries in the UK.
Kia PV5 Details
The PV5 Cargo sets new standards for electric vans in the small van market segment. Key features include:
- Available in two body lengths
- High roof option on the longer body for best-in-class cargo volume up to 5.17m3
- Lowest rear step height in its class at 419mm
- Payload capacity up to 790kg on L2/H1 configuration
- Choice of two battery options: standard range (51.5kWh) or long range (71.2kWh)
- Range: up to 181 miles (standard) or up to 247 miles (long range)
- 150kW DC and 11kW AC charging as standard
- Rapid charging from 10-80% in under 30 minutes
Pricing for PV5 Cargo starts from £27,645 (+VAT) for the Essential grade with standard range battery, or £30,145 (+VAT) with long range battery. The PV5 qualifies for the OZEV Plug-in Van grant, reducing the price by £5,000.
The PV5 Passenger variant is priced from £32,995 (OTR) and will offer a range of up to 249 miles with the long-range battery. It will be available in 5-seat configuration at launch, with 7-seat option to follow.
Commercial Future and Warranty
Kia plans to sell between 3-4,000 PBV units in the first full year, growing to around 17,000 by 2030. All Kia PBV products come with a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty. The PV5 offers a servicing interval of every two years/20,000 miles.
Pre-orders for PV5 Cargo and Passenger begin on May 1, 2025, with UK deliveries starting in Q4 2025. Future plans include the Kia PV7 (2027) and PV9 (2029).
Fleet Focus and Technology
Kia has partnered with Geotab and incorporated advanced on-board technology, including access to the Android App store via a 12.9-inch central display. This aims to help fleets increase efficiency and reduce paperwork. Additional partnerships with Samsung and 42dot will enhance software capabilities for PBV products.
