Kia’s Electric Ambition: New EVs and Vans on the Horizon
Kia is making good on its promise to bring electric vehicles to the masses. The carmaker is set to launch a series of new EVs and vans, aiming to offer a diverse range of options at competitive prices.

First up are the EV2, EV4, and PV5. The EV2, priced around £26,000, is designed for “the early majority,” according to the Kia chief. The EV4, a family hatchback, is expected to cost approximately £37,000. The PV5 work van will be available for roughly £32,000.
Kia already has a strong foothold in the EV market with the EV3, EV6, and EV9 models. The anticipated EV5, a Sportage-sized SUV, is due to arrive in October. Plus, the brand is not abandoning petrol engines.

Kia is looking to make significant inroads into the commercial vehicle sector. The PV5 panel van is projected to be about £10,000 cheaper than Ford’s E-Transit Custom. The six-seat PV5 minibus could be as much as £20,000 less expensive than a VW ID Buzz. All PV5 models will come with Kia’s standard seven-year warranty.
Kia UK boss Paul Philpott will present the first wave of vans at the CV Show in Birmingham in April.
The EV2 is expected to offer a 250-mile range and could cost around £60 a week on finance. The EV4 promises two battery sizes and a maximum range of 367 miles, with a focus on in-car entertainment. The Kia CEO has stated the EV2 is designed for those looking for an affordable electric vehicle.

Ho Sung Song, Kia’s chief, emphasized the company’s commitment to making “electric mobility truly accessible to all.” He said, “EV2 is for what we call the early majority, people looking for a more affordable price. This car will bring a new level of sophistication and usability to urban drivers with practicality beyond its size.”
Kia is also studying its entry-level EV model, the EV1. The company plans to extend the vans range in the UK.
Kia’s strategy encompasses a wide range of electric vehicles and a commitment to affordability. This approach could significantly influence the future of the automotive industry.
