The future of driving may have arrived: Kia’s highly anticipated PV5 is poised to electrify driveways everywhere, offering a versatile and modular approach to electric vehicles. The Korean automaker has revealed the PV5 in various configurations, including Passenger and Cargo models, with more options expected at the 2025 Kia EV Day. Initially previewed at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show, the mid-sized PV5 marks Kia’s debut under its Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) global strategy. This isn’t just another EV; it’s a reimagining of a vehicle, designed for maximum flexibility and customization. The PV5 is designed to compete with segment leaders, such as the Volkswagen ID Buzz.

Modular Design: Flexibility and Function
The PV5’s design is more than skin deep; it’s about providing drivers and businesses with adaptable solutions. Inspired by Kia’s design philosophy of “Opposites United,” the PV5 merges modern aesthetics with a practical, rugged design. The result is an EV that makes a statement while offering unmatched adaptability.
According to Karim Habib, Head of Kia Global Design, “Each model confidently expresses a solid, bold, futuristic character and a highly capable attitude.”
The PV5 Passenger model features a sleek geometric profile, large windows, and striking black glass accents. SUV-inspired wheel arch claddings and rocker panels give it a rugged appearance, hinting at off-road capability and a touch of sophistication. A lift-up tailgate and robust bumper add practicality without sacrificing style.
For those seeking a more functional design, the PV5 Cargo offers a slightly boxier shape to maximize space. Twin side-opening tailgate doors simplify loading and unloading, while the clean lines provide a fresh approach compared to traditional light commercial vehicles. The Cargo’s rear design further emphasizes its spacious feel, blending form and function.
Kia’s plans don’t stop here. On February 24, the brand will showcase the complete PV5 product line, including derivative models and conversion options, at the Kia EV Day in Tarragona, Spain. Further information regarding interior features and the full product range will be available on February 27th, with an event video recap released on Kia’s YouTube channel in March.
