Kia has launched its first dedicated electric commercial vehicle in the UK, the PV5, marking a significant step into the electric van market. The PV5 will be available in cargo, crew, and chassis cab configurations, catering to various business needs.
Key Features and Specifications
The PV5 comes with either a 51.5kWh or 71.2kWh battery pack, both supporting 400-volt fast charging. This enables a rapid charge from 10 to 80 percent in under 30 minutes. Kia claims the smaller battery version can achieve up to 181 miles on a single charge, while the larger battery offers up to 247 miles.
The van’s versatility is enhanced by its availability in two lengths and two height options, allowing buyers to tailor it to their specific requirements. The dedicated E-GMP platform enables an exceptionally low load height of 419mm at the rear, facilitating easier loading of heavier items.

The cargo volume of 4.4m3 for the L2/H1 version accommodates two full Euro pallets. The standard range version has a maximum payload of 790kg, while the long-range model’s payload is 690kg due to the additional battery weight.
Practicality and Technology
All versions feature a single sliding door on the side, with an additional door available as an optional extra. Kia will also offer various racking, flooring, and security features for customers to customize their PV5.

The interior features a large central screen with Android Automotive technology, providing a modern and connected driving experience.

Pricing and Availability
While official pricing has not been announced, the PV5 is expected to cost around £30,000 plus VAT. However, with the current plug-in van grant, the price is likely to drop to approximately £26,000, making it a competitive option in the electric van market.
