Land Rover Launches the Defender Octa in India
Land Rover has expanded its lineup in India with the introduction of the Defender Octa, a new, high-performance SUV built for extreme off-road capabilities. Based on the standard Defender, the Octa boasts unique design elements and enhanced features, making it a standout offering in the luxury SUV segment.

The Defender Octa differentiates itself from the standard model with several key exterior upgrades. These include redesigned front and rear bumpers, providing a distinct aesthetic while improving the vehicle’s approach and departure angles. Further enhancements include increased ride height, wider wheel arches, quad-exhaust tips, and new wheel designs ranging from 20 to 22 inches. The Octa also features a striking diamond graphic on its exterior.

Inside the cabin, the Defender Octa offers a luxurious and feature-rich experience. The interior includes performance seats and a premium 15-speaker Meridian surround sound system (700 W). Furthermore, the Octa incorporates an ‘Octa’ mode, which modifies the ABS calibration, adjusts cabin lighting, and customizes the exhaust sound to suit off-road conditions. An off-road function is also included.
Engine and Performance
The Defender Octa is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. This powerplant produces 626 hp and a peak torque of 800 Nm. The SUV is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Land Rover claims the Octa can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds. The Octa also features a remarkable water-wading capacity of 1 meter, which exceeds the standard Defender’s capability by 100 mm. The ground clearance is an impressive 323 mm.
Pricing and Availability
Prices for the Defender Octa start at Rs 2.59 crore (ex-showroom), with the Octa One version, available only during the first year of production, priced at Rs 2.79 crore (ex-showroom). The Defender Octa is positioned as a top-tier off-road luxury SUV, offering a blend of performance, luxury, and rugged capability.
