LMPD Officer Injured in Collision with Stolen Pickup Truck
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) officer was injured Thursday afternoon in a collision with a stolen pickup truck. The incident occurred shortly before 2:00 PM near the intersection of West Hill Street and McCloskey Avenue, on the border of the Algonquin and Park Hill neighborhoods.
According to the LMPD, the officer was patrolling the area in an unmarked vehicle when the pickup truck disregarded a stop sign. The truck struck the officer’s vehicle on the driver’s side, resulting in significant damage to both vehicles.
The officer was transported to a local hospital with injuries described by the LMPD as serious but not life-threatening. The driver of the pickup truck was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Following an investigation, the LMPD determined that the pickup truck had been reported stolen. The department reported that the driver was arrested and that charges are pending. The LMPD’s Traffic Unit is handling the ongoing investigation.
