Bradford Approves Major EV Charging Hub
Plans for one of Bradford’s largest electric vehicle (EV) charging hubs have been approved for the city’s Forster Square Retail Park. The development will introduce 10 EV charging bays, replacing 19 existing parking spaces – resulting in a net loss of nine spaces. According to the application submitted to Bradford Council, the remaining parking capacity across the retail park is sufficient to accommodate the reduction.

The charging infrastructure will be installed in the southern section of the car park, adjacent to Hamm Strasse. Council planning officers supported the application, stating that the charging points will provide a convenient location for customers and staff to charge their vehicles. The site was described as ‘strategically located’ to enhance the city’s EV infrastructure.
The decision highlights Bradford’s commitment to expanding its sustainable transport capabilities. While the development reduces the total number of parking spaces available, the council deemed the overall parking provision at the retail park sufficient for its needs.
