A 21-year-old man, Deantae Walker of Westland, Michigan, has been charged in connection with the theft of eight luxury Corvettes valued at $1.2 million from a Kentucky plant. Walker was taken into custody on Saturday in Bowling Green, Kentucky, facing charges of evading police, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property, and criminal mischief.

Authorities allege Walker’s involvement in the theft of the vehicles from the General Motors plant in Bowling Green. According to reports, another man, who was with Walker at the time of the incident, fled the scene in a Jeep with Ohio license plates. The Bowling Green police were alerted to the crime by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to an apartment complex following a report from a woman who witnessed a man driving a red Corvette with the price sticker still attached. The woman stated the man exited the vehicle and fled towards the front of the complex. The manager of the General Motors plant later confirmed the car’s origin. Subsequently, a second Corvette was discovered at the same complex, and a third was located nearby. The plant manager informed authorities that eight vehicles were missing from their back lot.

Surveillance footage from the apartment complex captured three vehicles entering the property. One individual was seen exiting a light gray Corvette. The incident report describes the man as wearing a green pullover sweatshirt over a red shirt, gray sweatpants, and a hood covering his head.

As the investigation progressed, dispatch received a call from a transport driver who reported a suspicious encounter with two men. The driver said the men attempted to rush him while loading the Corvettes, noting the vehicles showed signs of damage on their undersides. A police spokesperson stated that law enforcement believes at least nine people were involved in the theft. The perpetrators are believed to have driven all the vehicles simultaneously through a hole cut in a chain link fence at the plant.

Authorities are still working to identify the remaining individuals involved in the heist. The police spokesperson indicated that more arrests are anticipated as the investigation continues. Walker has no known affiliation with the plant.
