Man Dies After Being Struck by Pickup Truck in Oakland County
PONTIAC, MI — A 37-year-old Flint man died after being hit by a pickup truck while crossing Baldwin Road in Oakland County, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office reported. The incident occurred Friday at 8:38 p.m. near Virginia Avenue.
Sheriff’s officials stated that Charles Arnold O’Connor was walking outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck by a Ford F-150 truck. Emergency responders and bystanders attempted CPR on O’Connor before transporting him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 16-year-old girl from Pontiac, was unharmed in the collision, according to the sheriff’s office. Preliminary investigations indicated that speed and impairment were not factors for the driver. Officials are still investigating whether drugs or alcohol were involved for the pedestrian. An autopsy has been scheduled.
