Troopers are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Tuesday night near Ocala, Florida, where a man was struck and killed by a pickup truck.
The accident took place around 11:45 p.m. on State Road 40.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the driver of the truck was traveling east on SR-40 near NW 41st Avenue. Investigators reported that a pedestrian was walking in the same eastbound lane ahead of the vehicle.
FHP stated that the driver did not see the man, resulting in the collision.
The pedestrian, a 73-year-old Ocala resident, died at the scene. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The 42-year-old driver of the pickup truck, also from Ocala, was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
