Fatal Electric Scooter Accident in Manteca
A 57-year-old man was hit and killed by a car while riding an electric scooter in Manteca on Friday evening, April 18, 2025. The collision occurred around 8:20 p.m. along the 200 block of North Airport Way. According to the Manteca Police Department, the victim was riding in the street at night when he attempted to cross to the west side of the road and was struck by a vehicle.
The man was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The area lacked streetlights, leaving questions about whether the scooter had its lights on or if the rider was wearing protective gear. The investigation is ongoing.
The victim’s brother and daughter were also riding scooters in the area but remained on the side of the street and were not involved in the collision. The driver of the car cooperated with police during the investigation.
